Neuromodulation Academy™ Physician Course Offerings
The Academy provides a broad curriculum to satisfy clinician’s needs at a variety of levels. Our faculty consists of world-class experts in their fields—seasoned implanters, scientists, and practitioners who use neuromodulation every day to manage chronic pain. Course content is based on the best practices found in the industry.
Fellowship Course
This weekend course covers neuroanatomy, basics of neurostimulation, patient selection, the trial process, implant techniques, and postoperative care. The course is facilitated by leading pain management physicians trained in anesthesiology and neurosurgery and includes a hands-on cadaver workshop to provide a well-rounded learning experience.
Foundations of Neuromodulation (anatomic lab)
This 1½-day course is intended for new implanters. It provides broad exposure to a number of topics: neuroanatomy, patient and device selection, neurostimulation indications, suturing/pocketing techniques, and the business side of patient care. The course includes an anatomical workshop in which physicians practice techniques for needle entry, lead and IPG placement, tunneling, anchoring, and wound closure.
Theory and Practice (anatomic lab)
This 1½-day intermediate course features a discussion on neurostimulation technology, patient selection, complication management, and cases. It also includes an anatomic lab which highlights advanced techniques in lead and IPG placement, tunneling, anchoring, and wound closure.
Innovations in Neuromodulation (symposium)
This weekend course brings together advanced implanters to discuss complex neurostimulation techniques and applications in a moderated format. They include case presentations and discussion of advanced implant techniques and are geared toward experienced implanters who wish to discuss challenging cases and advanced techniques with their peers.
This program matches novice and intermediate implanters with advanced implanters who will share their experience in neurostimulation and how they have incorporated it into their practice. Generally, this includes observing cases, discussing patient selection criteria, and learning about therapy management strategies. Anatomic labs may be included.
These events are held in conjunction with scientific conferences. Novice to advanced implanters are invited to these roundtable sessions hosted by experienced implanters. Discussion topics may include challenging cases, complex issues in pain care, and novel approaches for treating pain conditions.
